Florida

Florida is the southernmost state of the 48 "conterminous" states. This eastern Southern State is a peninsula that pushes about 400 miles south into the ocean, the state is bordered on the north byAlabama and Georgia. The Atlantic Ocean washes against the east coast of the state with the Gulf of Mexico to the west. The northwestern part of Florida extends along the northern edge of the Gulf of Mexico to form an area referred to as the Florida Panhandle. The Panhandle is bordered by Alabama on the west.
The "Florida Keys" are a series of islands that curve southwestward for about 150 miles from the southernmost part of the peninsula. The largest of the islands is Key Largo.
