Welcome to Kentucky and a brief overview of The Bluegrass State.

One of the Southern States, Kentucky is located east of the Mississippi River in the east central part of the 48 "conterminous" states. It's bordered by Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio on the north and Tennessee on the south. To the east of Kentucky are the states of Virginia and West Virginia and, to the west, is Missouri.

  • State flower: Goldenrod (Solidago) adopted 1926.
  • State song: "My Old Kentucky Home", composed by Stephen C. Foster, adopted 1928.
  • State tree: Tulip poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) adopted 1994.
